How Long is a Luxury Treatment Program?

According to USAToday, nearly 21 million Americans struggle with substance addictions. That’s more than the number of people who have all cancers combined, and can mean 1 in 7 people will eventually suffer from an addiction. With such an epidemic in place, it is important to understand how the process of healing from an addiction works. This means learning what types of luxury treatment programs are available and asking questions like, how long is a luxury treatment program? Typically, luxury treatment programs can last anywhere from 30-90 days, depending on many factors.

What Determines How Long a Luxury Treatment Program Is?

When someone is addicted to a substance, there are many factors involved. People start abusing substances for many different reasons whether it is a learned behavior from childhood, self-medicating an undiagnosed mental illness or trying to cope with some type of trauma. As such, there are many things that determine how long a luxury treatment program can be. Those things include:

  • Length and severity of addiction. Someone who has been addicted to a substance for many years may have a very different treatment program than someone who is in the beginning stages of recognizing their addiction. While every addiction is taken seriously and as a chronic condition, some people may have fallen deeper into a more dangerous addiction than others and need more time to recover.
Insurance and cost. Depending on what your insurance or financial means might cover, your treatment program might be tailored to that length of stay.
  • Co-occurring disorders. Many times, a co-occuring disorder can be the root cause of an addition. This can mean depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or another type of condition, whether diagnosed or undiagnosed. Taking part in a dual diagnosis treatment program to treat both conditions may take more time than people who do not suffer from this.
  • Detox and Medicated Assisted Treatment needs. Certain people may require a more involved detox process than others, and as such, may require a longer length of stay. In addition, people who take part in medicated-assisted treatment may also have longer treatment programs than those who do not.

What Happens in a Luxury Treatment Program?

Every illness is different. Think about having a common cold: you may sneeze more than others, while others might also get co-occurring bronchitis and you do not. The same thinking can be applied to addiction in that everyone reacts differently and needs different treatment methods. As such, we develop individualized treatment plans for everyone who enters, and they can vary quite differently in length of stay for each one.

Detox

Detox is one of the first things you do when you enter Cliffside Malibu, or any other luxury treatment program. The process of your body readjusting to not having substances supplied to it anymore can be uncomfortable, and this can be helped with medical detox. Some people may have more severe withdrawal symptoms than others, so the length of the detox phase can vary from a few days to a few weeks.

Treatment

In a luxury treatment program, there are many types of treatment methods available. These can include:

  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Intensive outpatient
  • Medicated-assisted treatment
  • Behavioral therapy
  • Complementary holistic therapy

Aftercare

Just because you finish a treatment program and exit a luxury treatment program facility, doesn’t mean that the work to stay sober is over. Remaining sober and living a healthy life in recovery takes ongoing work. That is why many luxury treatment programs, including ours, offer an Alumni aftercare program. You will be checked in on and you will have a network of people to reach out to, should you feel as if your recovery is becoming hard.

Ongoing aftercare can look different for everybody. For some, this may mean ongoing medicated-assisted therapy. For others, it can mean regular outpatient meetings, having a sober companion, living in a sober transition house, or leaning on support from loved ones.
